Support
What inbuxa's makers can promise and what they can't: where to ask, how to report a bug or a security problem, and what happens after you do.
On this page
inbuxa is made by Coffey Labs, a small company, and most of it is written by one person. This page says plainly what that person can promise, so you can decide what to trust your mail to.
What it costs
Nothing. Every part of the suite is under the AGPL, with no paid tier and nothing held back. There are no support contracts and no service-level agreement. Nobody is on call for your server but you.
If inbuxa saves you money and you'd like to help, you can sponsor Coffey Labs.
Where to go
| You want to | Go to |
|---|---|
| Ask a question, share a setup, or talk it through | The forum |
| Report a bug or ask for a feature | Issues on git.coffeylabs.org, in the repository it belongs to |
| Report a security problem | security@coffeylabs.org, privately. Never a public issue. |
| Chat | Discord. It's a hangout, not a help desk. |
The repositories on GitHub are copies. Issues opened there are seen, but git.coffeylabs.org is where they're worked on.
What you can count on
- Security reports are acknowledged within a few days. Fixes go into the current series and into every older line still inside its security window. Each security release says what it fixes.
- Breaking changes only arrive in a new series, twice a year, announced about a month ahead. Everything else ships weekly. See Versions and upgrades.
- Every release has notes, listing what was added, changed and fixed.
- You can always check what you're running. Every interface links to the
exact source of its build, and the server answers at
/.well-known/source. - The tests ship with the code, and the full history is public.
- Bug reports are read. A fix ships in the next weekly release once it's made and tested.
What we can't promise
- Response times. Questions and bugs are answered when there's time, usually by the same person who writes the code. Security reports come first.
- Help with everything around the server. Your DNS, your hosting provider, your firewall and your mail clients are yours to run. The docs cover the parts inbuxa needs.
- Features on request. Ideas are welcome on the forum. Big features take as long as they take, and ship tested rather than fast.
- Getting back data you didn't back up. Undelete covers a lot, but not a lost disk. See Backups and undelete.
If Coffey Labs went away
Everything you'd need is already public: the code, its full history, the tests and these docs, all under the AGPL. Anyone can build it, run it, or carry it on. inbuxa-migrate writes your mail, calendars, contacts and filters out in standard formats, and your list of accounts without their passwords (from 27.1-rc.2), so you can move them to any other server. See Leaving inbuxa.
